Climate Change ProjectJack Tescher
What is climate change, and how is it different from global warming? Climate change is the change in temperature or weather in a specific area and how it differs from the past patterns of that climate. For instance, last year, we had almost 24 inches of snow in Durango Co, and this year their might have been 8 inches of snow due to a change in the climate.
Global warming is the overall trend in the temperature of the earth. To come out of an Ice Age, you will have to have a lot of global warming to heat and melt the ice. Climate change is usually the repercussion of global warming, meaning that global warming is different from climate change because climate change is the change in atmospheric conditions in a particular area, where global warming is the overall growth of the temperature in the world. Why should we care about climate change, now, when it's been happening naturally since the Earth began? The reason climate change and global warming are apparent now is the human effect on them. Though these effects have been happening ever since climates were created, humans have started to release more toxic gasses that are stored deep in the earth. The other factor is that humans are releasing these toxins into the atmosphere faster then the world can react to it, causing global warming. How does your project demonstrate your understanding of climate change? My project is all about upcycling plastic scaps to create bags that can be used for daily use. These scraps would usually be thrown away or tried to be recycled and end up in the dump or ocean. I was able to find a way to use these scraps for the bag, so the plastic doesn't contribute to a large number of plastic wastes and trash in the world. A large amount of plastic in the world can affect the climates where the plastic is being dumbed. Cutting down on plastic waste and upcycling plastic can cut down on the amount of plastic in that climate. |
What was your largest area of growth during this project? I could have had better time management because I didn't spend enough time to design and create blueprints for different kinds of bags. I ran into the problem of waiting for the plastic welder to come in so I could have ordered it earlier. What was your greatest strength during this project? My greatest strength in this project was my patience because I had to wait for the plastic welder to ship and for the plastic scraps to be delivered. It was tough to waiting for the plastic welder because I wanted to get started and start making bags. |
