Over all this year I have had a good math class. There certainly have been times where I have not liked it but over all I have learned from the math year and will be able to take this knowledge into future math classes. I have not liked the amount of writing we have done in this class because I fell it dose not connect to math but I got my work done and did my best even though I did not fell what I was doing was helpful.
Pendulum POW
In this unit I feel I understood the work we were doing and felt I did a well on it. This pow was the only one that I actually felt connected to and could write about it with out struggling. It was actually interesting to me and instead of just getting my work done for the grade I could see how I would use this in the future.
Mastery: In this unit I got 28 out of 30 because I can answer the unit problem fairly well and I understand the process we did to get to the answer. The unit question is Does he have time to get out without getting hit by the pendulum? MY answer is yes because of the data I have collected says he has a 1:19 to get out. Its says that it taking the rats about 1:00 to chew through so if that's true the 19 seconds is enough time to move. The equation that allowed me to get this answer is they=1.58x and if you do that times four swings and you get 23.84. Then if you multiply 23.84 time 4 then you get 79 seconds which is 1:19 The piece of work that shows my mastery of standard deviation is the “Round Robin” activity we did. This shows my mastery of standard deviation because when I was doing it I understood it and was able 5to get through it efficiently and got all the answers right. The piece of work I chose for the graphs in search of equations because we had to find data that fit the graph. This shows I have mastered transformations because the the graphs we were making data/equations had different transformations in them like you would have to create some data for a quadratic function and then for another quadratic function on the other side of the x line.
Effort/Growth: I got 27 out of 30 because I explained what I needed to put more effort into and what I feel I put a lot of effort into. I feel I could have put more effort in this unit but I tried my best to get my work done and am happy with it. The evidence for my effort is the tessellations because I could have made more and done them a little cleaner but overall I like how it came out. One piece of work I feel I have put a lot of effort into was rinky dinky and minky because I payed attention and got my work done on this piece. I enjoyed doing it and liked it when we were doing it. The Piece of could have more growth is was the normal distribution because I ran through it fast and didn't really focus of the the meaning and what could be learned from it. I really just wanted to get it done and was only looking for the grade.
Curiosity: I got 8 out of 10 because I am pretty interested in this unit but not extremely and I wrote a answerable and specific extension question. The things I can take into the future are the graph and standard deviation because graphs can connect to any job whether your an accountant and you taking a poll of your co workers or you are a bike company making sure people like your bikes. Standardization is very important for the future because you need to because to understand the graphs you are getting so you can make better changes. The question I have for the unit is, How many rats are there and what would happen if he only had half of the rats would he still live?
